Project Manager:

Utility Survey, Drawing Production

EDF Energy recently undertook the development of a fast cycle gas storage facility with a total storage capacity of 36 million therms. The storage facility is composed of 10 pre-existing cavities formed in the rock salt deposits some 200m beneath the ground. The cavities, full of brine prior to construction, which will be displaced by gas and used by British Salt as feedstock for their salt production process.

Vision Survey were engaged to carry out a Utility Survey combining the methods of Ground Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic Detection and manual investigative techniques to provide the design and construction teams with accurate and comprehensive information pertaining to all utilities within the project boundary. This large scale survey was accomplished and delivered on-time to enable programme compliance.
